Increasing Confidence as A Senior Leader

Increasing Confidence as A Senior Leader

At The Leadership Coaches, we were approached by an organisation that had identified a need for coaching for one of their leaders.

Like many others, Mae*, a leader who had recently been promoted, was keen to participate in executive coaching to support her in her new role and support her in increasing her confidence as she began a new senior position.

Mae’s Backstory

Having recently been promoted into a senior position, Mae* was keen to participate in executive coaching to support her in her new role. She had recognised challenges in her personal life that she thought might hinder her success and was eager to address them with the support of a coach to ensure she could thrive in the near and far future.

Agreeing that Mae could benefit from coaching, her organisation and sponsor supported her. Discovery calls took place, and she was matched with executive coach Dominique.

Below, we share insight into Mae’s journey as she progressed through coaching.

Before Coaching

As with all our clients, we met with Mae before coaching began to discuss her goals, achievements, and what she’d like to get from coaching. Not only did this give us the opportunity to get to know more about Mae, but it helped us recommend coaches for her to have chemistry sessions with.

During the initial call, Mae reflected on her achievements, which included promotions, awards, and contributing to successful organisational cultures. It was clear that these accomplishments empowered her and had a positive influence on the professional and personal lives of many others.

Mae recognised her strengths in relationship building, empathy, flexibility, encouragement, challenge, and diversity, all of which had been instrumental in supporting her colleagues. However, she also acknowledged her struggles with self-doubt, negative self-talk, procrastination, comparison, emotional management, and confidence.

Understanding the importance of addressing these areas, Mae was paired with leadership coach Dominique.

Increasing Confidence with Executive Coaching

Through coaching, Mae experienced a significant transformation. During her coaching sessions with Dominique, she was able to learn how past experiences influenced her way of thinking in the present day and the impact this had on herself and her work.

In addition to recognising this, Mae found herself becoming kinder to herself. She also shared that she was less affected by nerve-wracking situations, and embraced the reality that nobody knows everything, fostering optimism for her ongoing learning and growth.

Coaching additionally helped Mae feel a sense of belonging within her role and amongst her colleagues. She recognised her value in conversations, further increasing her confidence and belief in her abilities.

Mae further shared that coaching supported her in feeling as though she belonged in her role. She now feels as though she has value to add to conversations, which contributes to the increase in confidence she feels.

To Conclude

Mae's engagement in executive coaching proved instrumental in enhancing her leadership capabilities and confidence. Initially recognising her strengths and areas for improvement, Mae embarked on coaching to address personal challenges hindering her success in her new senior role.

Under the guidance of her executive coach, Mae underwent a transformational journey. She gained insights into how past experiences influenced her mindset and behaviour, fostering a more compassionate self-view and resilient approach to challenges.

This newfound confidence enabled her to see her value within her role and amongst colleagues, ultimately enhancing her effectiveness as a leader.

We Are Your One Stop Coaching Panel Provider

At The Leadership Coaches, we provided coaching to this client as a ‘one-stop panel provider’ where they had the opportunity to select from twenty executive coaches all under one roof. We do all the due diligence for them, and we also do the coach matching service if required.

Our coaching matching services see the coachee and our CEO, Zoé Lewis, having a conversation to establish their expectations of coaching and what’s important to them when working with a coach. Zoé then looks across the team and matches them with one or two coaches whom they review on the website and then have chemistry calls with those they resonate with.

All of this is completely free of charge – clients only start to pay once they’ve selected their coach and started working with them.
